Assistant Editor, Foreign Affairs

Founded in 1922, Foreign Affairs is the preeminent publication on international affairs and U.S. foreign policy. It is published by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), which is a leading independent, nonprofit membership organization and nonpartisan center dedicated to producing and disseminating foreign policy ideas. The Assistant Editor has substantial responsibilities and is involved in all aspects of Foreign Affairss editorial process. Previous assistant editors have gone on to careers in a variety of fields, including journalism, academia, and government. The position lasts for one year, starting as early as June.

CFR.org is the Council on Foreign Relations’s award-winning web site that is a leading source of content, analysis, and foreign policy options.  It publishes a mix of resources, including interactive InfoGuides, Daily News briefs, and backgrounders. CFR.org collaborates closely with CFR’s think tank staff on its content, and features insights from CFR Fellows in a number of ways, including web briefs, op-eds, and various multimedia. The ideal candidate will aid CFR’s analytics efforts in order to grow visitor traffic and increases awareness of the brand. Circulation Operations Associate 

The Circulation Operations Associate is part of the Foreign Affairs business department and reports to the Circulation Operations Director, Foreign Affairs, and will help with the day-to-day segmentation and promotion of our loyal subscribers and brand enthusiasts. Working closely with our customer fulfillment and lettershop teams, this role will coordinate all subscriber marketing efforts, the segmentation of our customer database and circulation performance reporting. Marketing Promotions Associate

The Marketing Promotions Associate reports to the Marketing Director, Foreign Affairs, and is assigned to help with the day-to-day branding tasks associated with running the magazine. These tasks include graphic design and quality control for subscription marketing campaigns and content marketing campaigns, as well as digital design tasks and the occasional staging of emails and newsletters. This role occasionally requires working with external vendors, conducting research projects and assisting with promotions for our advertising and events teams as needed. The position is excellent for a candidate interested in hands-on experience with all the marketing operations of a multimedia publication that includes print, digital, advertising and events departments.
